FORT WORTH, Texas — A two-month initiative named “Operation Showdown” has resulted in the arrest of 76 individuals in Fort Worth on federal and state firearms and drug charges. The operation was led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco, and Explosives (ATF) and announced by Nancy E. Larson, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas.
The operation involved several key partners, including the Drug Enforcement Administration, Fort Worth Police Department, and the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office, among others. Fifty-six defendants face federal charges, including illegal firearms trafficking and conspiracy to distribute drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl. These charges carry potential sentences ranging from 10 years to life in prison, according to the press release.
Additionally, 20 defendants have been charged in Tarrant County District Court with possession of controlled substances. Law enforcement seized 287 firearms, 14.8 kilograms of cocaine, 7.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, and other drugs during the operation.
