SWAT Standoff in Irving Leads to Arrest of High-Level Drug Suspect

A narcotics search and arrest warrant operation escalated into a barricaded person standoff early Wednesday morning, July 2, resulting in the arrest of a suspect with a lengthy criminal history involving drugs and weapons.

At approximately 6:18 a.m., the North Texas Metro SWAT Team, comprising officers from Carrollton, Addison, Farmers Branch, and Coppell, was serving warrants at an Irving residence on Syracuse Dr. Carrollton investigators held a search warrant for the home and an in-hand arrest warrant for Shane Arterburn for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Penalty Group 1, >400 grams), a first-degree felony. Arterburn also had an active warrant for a probation violation related to Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.

During the operation, Arterburn reportedly fired a rifle at SWAT operators from multiple concealed positions inside the home. The SWAT team immediately withdrew and transitioned the incident into a barricaded person situation…
