Alicia Duff was visiting family in the Dallas–Fort Worth area over the weekend when news of widespread flooding across the state was reported.

Her daughters — Amelia, 6, and Elliana, 8 — caught a glimpse of the coverage and noticed Kerr County was mentioned. But they weren’t fully paying attention, and at that point, there was no mention of Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp for girls located about six miles southwest of Hunt, Texas.
