A deadly wrong-way crash shut down eastbound lanes of State Highway 114 near DFW Airport early Monday morning, leaving two people dead and traffic backed up for hours.
Irving police say the crash happened just before 3 a.m. near Esters Road, when a vehicle traveling west in the eastbound lanes slammed head-on into another car. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. No other passengers were reported in either vehicle.
The collision occurred near the airport’s north entrance, forcing eastbound traffic on 114 to be diverted to Freeport Parkway. As of 6 a.m., all eastbound lanes remained closed while crews cleared the scene and investigators worked to determine how the wrong-way driver entered the highway…
