Texas Fugitive Apprehended After Violent Attack At ICE Facility

Benjamin Hanil Song, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, was captured on July 15 in Dallas, Texas.

Why Song Was Pursued

Song had been wanted for his alleged involvement in the July 4 attack on a United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detention Facility in Alvarado, Texas, located in Johnson County. During this attack, an Alvarado Police Department Officer was shot and wounded.

Details of Song’s Apprehension

Working off investigative information, Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Special Agents, along with the Texas Rangers, FBI – Dallas, and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, located and arrested Song in north Dallas. Other local agencies assisted in this fugitive investigation.

Song’s Alleged Crimes

Following Song’s alleged involvement in the July 4 attack in Alvarado, warrants were issued out of Johnson County on July 8 for his arrest for Aiding Terrorism, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Public Servant, and Engaging in Organized Crime.

The following day, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Song in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas, Fort Worth, after he was charged with Attempted Murder of a Federal Officer and Discharging a Firearm During, in Relation to, and in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence…
