Financial Aid Available for Victims of Fort Worth’s Cooper Apartment Fire Through SBA Disaster Declaration

Residents affected by the Cooper Apartment Fire in Fort Worth now have a financial lifeline provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). In a recent announcement, Governor Greg Abbott confirmed that the SBA approved his request for a disaster declaration to assist locals after last month’s devastating fire. According to the Governor’s Office, those who sustained property damage during the fire “are now eligible to receive financial assistance to repair damages sustained to their property.”

Working with the Texas Division of Emergency Management, Abbott’s request was made on July 16, and the SBA has since offered access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans, and Economic Injury Disaster Loans – all with low-interest rates to qualifying individuals. Announced last Thursday, emerging from the tragedy, Texans have an opportunity to rebuild, to mend what the fire had torn asunder.

Applications for assistance can be completed online at the SBA’s official disaster assistance page, or by reaching out to their Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955. Individuals with hearing and speech disabilities may access telecommunications relay services by dialing 7-1-1. For those needing further guidance, SBA representatives will facilitate the application process, beginning tomorrow at 12:00 p.m., at a Disaster Loan Outreach Center located at 1100 Hemphill Street, in Fort Worth, operational from 9:00 AM – 6:00 p.m. on weekdays…
