Gas station clerk kidnapped at gunpoint, saved outside motel, Fort Worth police say

Fort Worth police say a man walked into a gas station and kidnapped a clerk at gunpoint on Monday night, forcing her into his car and driving away. Officers say an app on the woman’s phone may have saved her life.

The chain of events started at Penny’s gas station near 4300 East Berry Street. Police told NBC 5 that around 11:40 p.m. Monday night, 25-year-old Freddie Banks Jr. entered the property.

“He walked into the store, went right back to his vehicle, and immediately came out with a handgun,” said Buddy Calzada, public information officer with Fort Worth Police Department. “Produced the handgun and forced the female into the vehicle.”…
