Fort Worth ISD is banning cellphones for students. Here’s what you need to know

Students in the Fort Worth Independent School District will no longer be allowed to use cellphones during the school day under a new policy.

The district’s board approved a new cellphone ban Tuesday. The policy mirrors a new Texas state law that goes into effect next month.

Under the district’s policy, students aren’t allowed to use cellphones during the school day, including at lunch or between classes. The policy also extends to other devices like smartwatches, tablets or gaming devices. Students may use those devices before the school day begins and after the final bell.
