Peering into the natural world just became a bit more interesting at Oliver Nature Park in Mansfield, Texas. The Mansfield Parks & Recreation Department recently unveiled four new magnifying glass stations designed to offer park-goers an enlarged view of the minute wonders of nature, from the veins in a leaf to the exoskeleton of a bug. As reported on the department’s Facebook page, these stations are intended to foster education and exploration in a hands-on fashion.

For visitors concerned about the risk of fire, the parks department has preemptively quelled any unease. “No, they are not a fire risk,” Mansfield Parks & Rec clarified in a social media post. Despite no direct sunlight positioning and only having a focal distance of 6-8 inches, the magnifying glasses should be safe due to being installed away from the ground to secure against the risk of fire, which would be unlikely to spread given their dirt surroundings…
