UTA researchers use recycled plastic to build better roads, lessen waste

If you drive on State Highway 205 or Goliad Road in Rockwall, you are helping test a new asphalt mix engineered by student researchers at the University of Texas at Arlington.

“So, you know we are trying to solve two problems; one plastic waste, which is creating a lot of issues. Two, cracked roads or potholes,” UTA Engineering Professor and Director of Solid Waste Institute for Sustainability Dr. Sahadat Hossain said.
