If you’ve ever dreamed about a career in the entertainment industry, Texas — not Hollywood — is where you want to be. At least, that’s the message one Emmy-nominated producer is promoting with the launch of their newest project, the state’s largest film and production campus, which is just hours away from San Antonio and Austin.
SGS Studios, operated by Yellowstone showrunner Taylor Sheridan, has joined real estate company Hillwood to open what they are touting as the “centerpiece for one of the most state-of-the-art studios in the business.” The two entities announced last week that their 450,000 square foot facility has officially opened in Fort Worth. And in fact, one of the state’s most high profile shows, Landman, has already begun filming there.
What is the largest film studio in Texas?
In collaboration with Paramount Television, the campus is able to support four large-scale productions at the same time, making it the largest operating studio facility in Texas, a news release states. It contains two buildings comprised of HVAC-equipped and power-optimized sound stages, mill spaces, wardrobe, and green screen systems. All of these features are located on a 27,000-acre master planned community called AllianceTexas.
“We are at a pivotal moment where Texas can become a global force in the film industry, and North Texas offers the location and resources to play a central role in this development,” Mike Berry, President of Hillwood, said. “We have the infrastructure in place to grow jobs exponentially and produce thousands of future film industry workers … Doing this will allow us to further diversify North Texas’ economic impact and long-term success.”…
