Texas Woman Arrested for Attempted Kidnapping of Two Children Paid for by Father

Aurora, IL – A Texas woman was arrested after attempting to kidnap two children and transport them to Mexico on the instructions of their father, who does not have legal custody, authorities reported. The children, aged 11 and 13, were safely recovered without harm.

Authorities Respond to Alleged Kidnapping Plot

According to the Aurora Police Department, officers arrived at a home on Rosewood Avenue in Aurora, about 40 miles west of Chicago, at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, following concerns that the children might be abducted.

“Officers arrived on scene and learned the two juveniles were staying with family at the time,” the press release reads. “An unknown female arrived at their home and stated she needed to take the juveniles on their mother’s behalf to her location out of state.”

Woman Arrested at Midway Airport

Law enforcement later identified the suspect as 47-year-old Cindy Sanchez of Fort Worth, Texas. Sanchez allegedly left the children’s home with them without the mother’s consent. The Chicago Police Department assisted in tracking Sanchez and the children, who were eventually located at Midway International Airport, the city’s second-busiest airport.

Police confirmed that both children were recovered safe and unharmed, and Sanchez was arrested at the scene.

Father Allegedly Paid for the Plot

Investigators determined that the attempted kidnapping was orchestrated by the children’s father, who paid Sanchez to bring the children to him in Mexico via the Texas border. Sanchez is reportedly a relative of the father, according to authorities…
