Often, late August is a time when the entire state of Texas is baking under bright sunshine, high atmospheric pressure, and triple-digit heat.
That won’t be the case this week, as a relatively strong cold front — at least by August’s standards — surges into the Lone Star State. Parts of Texas could see temperatures more typical of October.
The coolest temps will be reserved for North Texas, though. Farther south, cities like Austin and San Antonio will likely see a slight drop in temperature by the middle of the week, but it won’t be a drastic difference. Rain chances, though, will rise as the front moves south. Here’s what we can expect.
