At Dallas Dog RRR, in Dallas, Texas, Wilbur arrived in August 2024 with his litter mate Orville. Both puppies had been found as strays and had been in a foster home until they came down with severe ringworm. Of course, that limited their chances at adoption because they had been kept in isolation for the protection of pets and humans alike.
In December 2024 Wilbur was adopted, but he didn’t get along with the family’s other dog. That’s right – back to the rescue. And then in January 2025, another adopter returned him again within three days because he had not bonded yet with his new family.
And now we fast forward to July 2025, and this failed adoption hit everyone hard; of course Wilbur has had his heart broken again. This time the new family only kept him for 36 hours because Wilbur barked at the husband!
There is little doubt that Wilbur has been misunderstood. Perhaps, if Wilbur could speak for humans to understand, this would be part of his story:
