Central Texas (FOX 44) – A high-speed chase that began in Bell County stretched through five counties with speeds over 100 miles per hour for long stretches Thursday.
The Department of Public Safety says more information will be coming, but initially says only that the pursuit began north of Temple in Bell County and quickly reached high speeds with multiple units involved in the chase.
Attempts to spike the tires of the fleeing vehicle were not successful with the driver eluding troopers through Bell, McLennan, Hill, Ellis and into Dallas county where the driver was finally taken into custody. After going through Hillsboro the driver took I-35 E toward Dallas.
At one point, the fleeing driver and pursuing vehicles passed a FOX 44 reporter who had gone to West to cover Westfest preparations…
