Texas officials spark renewed interest over mysterious 1984 discovery

I t’s December 1984 in a pasture out in a remote part of North Texas, probably 60 miles or so northwest of Fort Worth and only a short drive east of Jacksboro, the seat of Jack County. It’s a small area of about 8,000 residents, plus farms and hunting fields.

On this day a couple hunters are walking around, says the Doe Network, a center for unidentified and missing persons. As they’re in the middle of a deer hunt, they come across some human remains. They call police, who recover the bones wrapped in plastic—a shower curtain or a mattress cover most likely.
