Longtime North Texas steakhouse shutters amid rising beef prices

A longtime North Texas steakhouse is closing its doors after a 15-year run. Cat City Grill on Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth is one of multiple Texas restaurants that claim they are being pressured to shutter amid rising beef prices and changing consumer habits.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram first reported Cat City’s closure on Tuesday. In a letter on Cat City’s website, owners Martin and Denise Thompson wrote the restaurant’s last day would be Sept. 28.

“This journey has been filled with countless shared meals, laughter, celebrations, and friendships,” the couple wrote in part. “We are deeply grateful for the loyalty and support you’ve shown us over the years—whether you joined us for a casual lunch, a special dinner, or became part of our extended Cat City Grill family.”
