Flock system helps Parsons police arrest suspect in stolen car case

PARSONS, Kan. (KOAM) – A stolen vehicle alert from the Parsons Police Department’s Flock Safety license plate recognition system led to the arrest of a Texas man on multiple felony charges Sunday evening.

On Sept. 8 at about 5:26 p.m., Officer Brett Malle received a real-time alert of a stolen gray Lexus IS300 traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 400 near Jackson Road. Dispatch confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day in Midlothian, Texas.

Officers soon found the car parked at the Holiday Inn on Cattle Drive. When approached, the driver — identified as a 24-year-old male of Midlothian — tried to run. After a brief chase through a wooded area near Tolen Creek, he was taken into custody without injury…
