Officers received information on Tuesday about narcotics trafficking in the area of the 500 block of NE 6th St. They named the suspect as Ricky Glen Walters, 64. Officers learned that Tarrant County had a warrant for Walters. Police secured A search warrant for Walters’ residence to make the arrest. Officers of the Paris Police Department and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department served the warrant. During the arrest, they observed narcotics paraphernalia in plain view. Officers obtained a secondary warrant to search the premises for further narcotics and located narcotics and paraphernalia indicating the packaging and sale of the drugs. They also found a firearm. Walters had a felony conviction in June of 2024 and cannot legally possess a gun. Officers charged him with the Tarrant County Warrants for Agg Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Marijuana, Failure to give ID, and Possession of Controlled Substance. On the results of the Paris’ search warrant, they charged Walters with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Walters was booked and placed in jail without further incident.
On Tuesday, the department learned of a Theft by Check that had occurred. The reporting party advised that some unknown person had cashed a check on their business account for $2,380.00. They did not know the person passing the check, but suggested the suspects had attempted to cash another check, which got rejected. The reporting party reported that after the incidents, they discovered a checkbook was missing from their vehicle. They notified the bank, and the investigation is ongoing.
