An elderly woman was killed, and a man and a Fort Worth firefighter were injured Wednesday in an early morning fire on the west side of the city, officials said.
The Fort Worth Fire Department received a call at 4:01 a.m. about a house fire in the 8200 block of Lifford Place near Western Hills High School. Firefighters arrived at the scene at 4:05 a.m., according to Fire Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek. Heavy fire was already coming from the home, and an elderly man was standing outside.
Firefighters found the elderly woman in the back of the one-story house. She was taken out through a window, Trojacek said. In spite of efforts to revive her, she died at the scene. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
