For years, the Luby’s at 926 E. Highway 67 in Duncanville was a go-to spot for comfort food and cafeteria-style dining. Like many locations of the beloved Texas chain, it eventually shut its doors, leaving an empty building along the busy highway. Now, that space has reopened as Empire Buffet, an all-you-can-eat restaurant serving seafood, sushi, and hibachi.
From Luby’s to Empire Buffet
The transformation of the former Luby’s into Empire Buffet began in November 2024 with major renovations. Updates included new gas lines, upgraded electrical systems, and modern air conditioning, while keeping the 11,830-square-foot structure intact. Today, the familiar building has been repurposed into a buffet-style restaurant focused on variety and international flavors.
