Fort Worth is quickly becoming the premier hub for the Texas film industry, with A-list producer Taylor Sheridan attaching his vast television empire to the city and its surrounding areas. In June, it was revealed that the Yellowstone creator had leased two giant studio spaces totaling over 450,000 sq ft (making it by far the biggest in the state) in partnership with the property development firm Hillwood. Now, as Fort Worth’s mayor confirms the city’s big bet on film, Sheridan and company are aiming to build an even larger studio space in the area.
A production studio five to eight times larger than the present 450,000-square-foot facility in Alliance, Texas, is being planned by Hillwood and 101 Studios — which boasts Sheridan as its director and is one of the producers of the popular Texas oil drama Landman. The news was announced during a conversation between the CEO of 101 Studios and Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker.
