Tomorrow marks the first-ever Unplug Texas Day, a celebration designed to encourage people to ditch their devices and engage in community activities. And, it’s all free.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a bird-watching hike at Oliver Nature Park, where nature lovers can indulge in the simplicity of observing wildlife. As the day unfolds, the schedule includes a variety of activities, like chair volleyball at 10 a.m. involving the local senior community—the MAC seniors, no less.
The initiative taps into a growing awareness about the need to balance technology use with offline life, especially given the increased screen time many experienced in recent years. Afternoon events escalate the fun with seed planting at ONP, coupled with kids’ open play pickleball at the MAC,. signaling that the event isn’t just for birdwatchers or fitness enthusiasts—it truly has something for everyone…
