Mansfield Father Sentenced to 20 Years After 2-year-old Daughter Dies from Fentanyl Ingestion

Tarrant County, Texas — On November 3, 2025, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office announced that 28-year-old Michael Ray Reed pled guilty to injury to a child causing serious bodily injury and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The case stems from February 18, 2024, when Reed’s 2-year-old daughter, Nevaeh, ingested fentanyl pills that he left unsecured in their Mansfield apartment. Instead of immediately seeking medical help, Reed reportedly spent time researching online methods to induce vomiting in children.
