On November 5, 2025, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 49 near Louisiana Highway 177 in DeSoto Parish. The crash happened around 4:30 a.m. in dense fog and involved a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer overturned, leading to more collisions in the northbound lanes.
Lawrence Irchirl, 50, from Natchitoches, died when his 2002 Ford F-350 hit a parked 18-wheeler at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.
