Irving Man Convicted and Sentenced to 30 Years in Fatal Shooting Case

On October 1, 2025, Raimond Rubio of Irving was found guilty of murder by a Dallas County jury and sentenced to 30 years in prison by Judge Elizabeth Frizell.

Rubio was convicted in the death of 31-year-old Josue Rigoberto Umanzor. Irving police responded on the morning of December 28, 2023, to an assault call in the 2200 block of Etain Rd. Officers found Umanzor with a gunshot wound, and he later died at Parkland Hospital.

The investigation identified Rubio, a Venezuelan national residing in Irving without legal status, as the suspect. Rubio had been held on a $1 million bond since his arrest on December 29, 2023. Umanzor, originally from El Salvador, is survived by his wife and two children…
