Envelopes containing ‘white powdery substance’ sent to 2 North Texas ICE offices spur investigation, officials say

DALLAS — Envelopes containing ‘a white powdery substance’ sent to two North Texas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) offices Friday morning prompted an investigation and response from Hazmat crews, officials say. After investigating, police say there was no threat.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said an ICE officer at the Dallas facility at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway opened an envelope addressed to ‘Dallas Field Office’ containing a ‘white powdery substance’ Friday morning, and a Hazmat crew was called to the facility as a precaution. The Federal Protective Service and Dallas Fire-Rescue also responded.

Shortly before 9 a.m., Dallas police said the response stemmed from a suspicious package but that the package had been checked out and no threat was found. Following the investigation, normal operations resumed at the facility, officials say…
