A Dallas County jury has convicted 21-year-old Jamarion White of murder for the June 9, 2024 killing of Kevin Hernandez, sentencing him to 80 years in prison.
Prosecutors said White and a juvenile co-defendant targeted Hernandez for his purple Dodge Charger, a car outfitted with a high-performance “scat pack” package. The two approached Hernandez at 136 N. Masters in Dallas and opened fire, hitting him seven times.
Investigators later tied the suspects to a stolen blue Nissan Rogue used in the crime. That vehicle had been taken in a separate carjacking earlier the same morning. Police found fired cartridge cases inside the Rogue that matched shell casings recovered from the murder scene.
