Fort Worth Launches NET Force to Combat Problematic Properties and Enhance Safety

Fort Worth is rolling out a new pilot initiative with a mission to tackle the city’s most problematic properties. Named the Nuisance Enforcement Task Force (NET Force), this project is Fort Worth City Hall’s latest approach to dealing with places plagued by ongoing criminal activity and code compliance issues. City Manager Jay Chapa and Code Compliance Director Brian Daugherty have briefed the Fort Worth City Council on this collaborative enforcement effort, set to commence in January.

Ten city departments are uniting for the NET Force, leading an aggressive front coordinated by Code Compliance, Development Services, Environmental Services, along with the Fire and Police departments. This response team aims to alleviate community safety concerns and restore order by zeroing in on and rectifying the city’s most troublesome properties. As per the City of Fort Worth, Daugherty explained, “NET Force is a focused, multi-departmental enforcement initiative that aggressively targets Fort Worth’s most persistent nuisance properties to restore compliance and enhance community safety.”

The initial targets for this program include the Eco Motel on East Lancaster Avenue, both Rocky’s I and II on Hemphill Street, and the Sandy Oak Apartments on Sandy Lane. These properties were not chosen at random but were selected due to their history of criminal activity, code violations, negative impacts on their communities, such as proximity to residential areas and key community facilities, as well as their owners’ past infringements…
