Irving Police Arrest Two After Burglary Spree, Vehicle Chase and Assault on Officer

In the early morning hours of November 28, Irving Police responded to an active burglary of a motor vehicle at the Agave Villas Apartments in the 1100 block of N. O’Connor Road near Irving High School. Callers reported that a man and woman were breaking into a vehicle in the parking lot.

When officers arrived, they found 34-year-old Guillermo Bernal sitting inside a white Dodge Ram that belonged to a resident and was being rifled through without permission. As officers approached and ordered him to stop, Bernal fled on foot before jumping into a Ford Explorer and speeding away.

While trying to escape, Bernal crashed into three parked vehicles inside the complex, damaging all three. He then exited the property and intentionally rammed his SUV into a marked Irving Police unit driven by Officer R. Lopez.
