A Tarrant County jury has delivered a guilty verdict against Raymond Miller, a 65-year-old man, for the crime of assault impeding breath or circulation on a family member. Miller, who has a prior conviction for homicide involving a former girlfriend, was found guilty in a case that pointed again to his violent tendencies.
The conviction stems from an October 2021 incident, in which it was reported that Miller viciously attacked and attempted to strangle his girlfriend during a disagreement. With his history of violent crime, the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office did not hesitate to seek a severe penalty. “Miller was a habitual offender and we asked the judge to sentence him to life in prison,” the office stated in a social media post. The judge, however, sentenced Miller to 35 years behind bars, a sentence that aims to protect the community and punish the perpetrator for his actions.
