NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — Social workers and child advocates are often thrown into difficult family dynamics and sometimes tasked with removing children from dangerous situations. This week, however, those caseworkers are loading wagons with toys and descending on clients’ homes as the joy-delivering elves they would prefer to be across North Texas.
“Do you have anything, like, for dance,” Texas Department of Family and Protective Services caseworker Ahja Alexander said as she entered Center Point Church in North Richland Hills on Monday.
“Maybe a Barbie doll would do her justice,” she said as she shopped in a room filled with free toys, games and bicycles. “I love a Barbie doll.”…
