ARLINGTON, Texas — The Mission Arlington Christmas Store has entered its most critical week of the year, reporting an unprecedented surge in local families seeking assistance. In just the first 48 hours of operation, the nonprofit organization served approximately 8,000 families, a significant increase from the 6,000 families assisted during the same window in previous years.
Co-founder and Executive Director Tillie Burgin emphasized that the store serves a vital economic purpose beyond holiday cheer. By providing toys and gifts for children at no cost, the organization helps parents allocate their limited financial resources toward essential living expenses.
“The need is very great. We try to help people hold on to that rent money. If you’ve got a place, use your money for electricity and let us do these extras for you,” Burgin explained.
