At the Silcox Animal Campus in Texas, Poppy arrived at the shelter as a stray. When animal control officers found her on December 7, she had been trying her hardest to get around. She didn’t appear to have any obvious wounds, but for sure the young dog had been through hell.
Poppy did her best trying to walk; bearing weight on her right hind leg and favoring her right front leg.
According to shelter volunteers, Poppy is quite shy when she first meets strangers, but she is not aggressive at all. She appears under socialized and overwhelmed. She slowly warmed up to the staff, and it took little time for Poppy to start showing her soft and affectionate heart as she gingerly leaned into the kind person assuring her that life would hopefully get better soon.
Veterinarians at the shelter have confirmed Poppy needs immediate rescue.
