West Fort Worth Braces For Weekend I-30 Traffic Meltdown

West Fort Worth drivers are in for a rough weekend: all lanes of I-30 will shut down so crews can knock down the RM 2871/Longvue Avenue bridge that crosses the freeway. The full closure is set to start at 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, and run through about 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8. Local traffic will still be able to hop on the frontage roads, but anyone trying to pass through should expect long detours and even longer delays.

According to TxDOT, I-30 will be closed in both directions from the I-820 West Loop to Chapel Creek Boulevard to make room for bridge demolition. Entrance and connector ramps at Chapel Creek Boulevard, Spur 580, Alemeda Street, and the northbound and southbound direct connectors from I-820 to westbound I-30 will all be blocked during the shutdown.
