The City of Red Oak has tapped Adrian Tijerina as its next chief of police, city officials announced yesterday, putting a 25-year law-enforcement veteran at the helm of the department. Tijerina, who has spent much of his career in supervisory and training roles, is slated to step into the job on March 2. City leaders are also planning a public meet-and-greet in March so residents can size up their new top cop in person.
Picked From A Competitive Pool
City officials say Tijerina rose to the top of a competitive field of 58 applicants and was singled out for what they described as leadership, integrity, and a knack for building strong relationships and community trust, according to the City of Red Oak’s Facebook post. He is scheduled to begin work on March 2, with a public meet-and-greet set for March 9 in the Red Oak Government Center Community Room.
Duncanville Record And Military Service
Tijerina most recently served as assistant chief of police for the City of Duncanville, where he led the department’s operations side and oversaw patrol, special operations, and traffic units. According to the City of Duncanville, his law enforcement career began in 1999, and he joined Duncanville in 2006. Along the way, he has worked as a field-training officer, SWAT operator, and instructor. He is also a U.S. Army veteran and holds a Master Peace Officer license.
Public Meet-And-Greet And Transition
Red Oak officials say the March 9 meet-and-greet at the Red Oak Government Center Community Room will give residents a chance to talk directly with Tijerina and other department leaders, according to the City of Red Oak’s Facebook post. The city’s announcement underscored his background in community-focused policing as a key factor in the hire. In the gap between the announcement and his March 2 start date, the department will handle routine administrative tasks and onboarding behind the scenes.
