A narcotics-related traffic stop in Irving ended in tragedy yesterday when the driver died after a struggle with officers near the intersection of N. Belt Line Road and Cross Country Trail, according to police. The person was taken from the scene to a hospital, where medical staff pronounced them deceased.
In a post from the Irving Police Department on X, officials said officers were in the middle of a narcotics investigation when they pulled over a vehicle and tried to take the driver into custody for possession of narcotics. Police said the driver resisted and a physical struggle followed. Officers then placed the person in handcuffs, and the individual was injured during the altercation.

The Irving Fire Department transported the person to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased. Police said no officers were injured during the encounter.
