Pantego restores permits for UPAC after community backlash over revocation amid ongoing shooting investigation

PANTEGO, Texas — The Town of Pantego reversed its decision Tuesday, reinstating the certificates of occupancy for United Performing Arts Company (UPAC) just hours after a standing-room-only crowd packed Pantego Town Hall in a show of support for the longtime dance studio.

The city had revoked the studio’s occupancy permits days earlier following a Feb. 13 shooting that occurred outside the business after a private, late-night event. Neighbors said the shooting happened after that event.

Pantego police have released few details about the incident and have not said whether anyone was injured…
