5 people in custody after hour-long police chase ends in Fort Worth, officials say

FORT WORTH, Texas — Five people were detained after an hour-long police chase ended in a crash near Bryant Irving and Camp Bowie in Fort Worth, according to officials.

The chase began around 3:22 a.m. Thursday, when an Ellis County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a car run a stop sign near FM 875 and FM 663 in Midlothian, officials said in a press release. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver drove away and began firing at the officer, the release states.

While leading deputies on a chase, the people in the vehicle continued to shoot at the deputies and threw items from the vehicle, officials said. A firearm was later recovered from the items thrown out of the vehicle, the Fort Worth Police Department said in a press release…
