ELLIS COUNTY, Texas — Five suspects are facing serious felony charges after authorities say they fired multiple rounds at law enforcement officers during an early-morning pursuit that stretched across several North Texas jurisdictions Thursday.
According to the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began around 3:22 a.m. on February 26, 2026, when a deputy observed occupants of a vehicle actively shooting from the roadway near FM 875 and FM 663 in Midlothian.
When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled, initiating a pursuit. Investigators say the occupants continued discharging firearms at deputies and assisting agencies as the chase moved into neighboring cities.
