(KNUE-FM) Recently, there was a large, organized retail theft ring in Texas that was brought down by law enforcement. The officials called it Operation Mario Cart, and they did an excellent job working the investigation through to the end.
What Was Operation Mario Kart?
The details of the case were posted on the Plano, Texas Police Department Facebook page, regarding an investigation that dates back to last year. One of their detectives began investigating what appeared to be a routine theft involving some gaming electronics and accessories around $2,500.

How the Investigation Began
During the investigation, the detective learned that the items stolen were then purchased by someone named “fence” who would then resell the items for profit.
The detective in the case began working with Walmart Global Security Investigator Lee, and together they were able to identify “fence.”
What first began as a small theft quickly expanded to a major multi-agency investigation involving the Plano Police General Crimes Unit and Special Investigative Services Unit, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Allen Police Department, Nintendo of America, and retail loss prevention teams at Walmart, Target and Kroger…
