Testimony to begin in intoxication manslaughter trial in death of police sergeant

Prosecutors will on Thursday begin to present evidence to a jury in the case of a woman who authorities accuse of being drunk when she drove the wrong way on a Fort Worth interstate exit ramp and struck and killed with a sedan a police sergeant.

Fort Worth Police Department Sgt. Billy Randolph was standing outside his vehicle at the scene of an 18-wheeler crash and fire when he was hit in August 2024.

A jury in Criminal District Court No. 2 in Tarrant County will consider witness testimony and exhibits in the case of De Aujalae Evans, who was indicted on intoxication manslaughter of a peace officer in Sgt. Randolph’s death.

An attempt in December to seat a jury in the case was unsuccessful. A second attempt to select a jury has been underway since Monday…
