In the quiet pre-dawn hours yesterday, a woman walking across westbound Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie was struck and killed by a passing vehicle, authorities said.
Officers responded around 1:30 a.m. to the 4600 block of I-30 westbound, where the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
What investigators say
According to investigators, the yet-unidentified woman was on foot in the main lanes of the highway when she was hit by a driver who told police he did not see her, as reported by The Dallas Morning News. The Grand Prairie Fire Department arrived and confirmed her death, officials said.
Police noted that the driver was not injured and is cooperating fully with the investigation. What brought the woman onto the high-speed corridor at that hour remains unclear, and investigators say they are still working to understand the circumstances.
