Before shooting death in Fort Worth, teens had been ‘playing all day’ with pistol

Police on Sunday arrested a 16-year-old on suspicion of manslaughter after, they allege, he recklessly fired a pistol inside a southwest Fort Worth apartment building and fatally shot a boy of the same age.

The shooter reported that he and Jaydon Jones had been “playing all day” with the gun and that the shooting was an accident, according to a Fort Worth police account that state district Judge Alex Kim read aloud during a detention hearing on Monday in the 323rd District Court in Tarrant County.

Judge Kim ordered that the shooter remain held in the county’s juvenile detention center…
