Judge sentences North Texas man to 75 years for brutal assault, drugging, and death of Fort Worth woman

FORT WORTH, Texas — A man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for a deadly 2023 incident where he brutally assaulted and drugged a woman, which led to her death, according to the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Officials say 34-year-old Kaleb Mickens pled guilty to first-degree aggravated assault, family violence, and was sentenced to 40 years in prison for the assault and drugging of Sheila Cuevas. Cuevas died from her injuries on October 8, 2023.

Police say Mickens called 911 that day and said Cuevas had been attacked by his dog and was no longer breathing. Officials say the dog was taken and euthanized by animal control, but later determined the animal had nothing to do with Cuevas’ injuries or death…
