By order of Montgomery County, the Garage will stop hosting live music. On May 19, District Court Judge Rand L. Gelber found that the Boyds, Maryland, venue—which operates on the county’s Agricultural Reserve—violated zoning code, which requires businesses on the Reserve to serve agricultural purposes.
“We understand this comes as a huge disappointment to many, but we have no other choice but to cancel our events at The Garage and rehome them elsewhere,” venue operators Grace Cotting and Levi Hebeisen shared in a May 23 Instagram post. “We are working tirelessly to find a way for all these shows to still happen at other locations, and we will strive to keep The Garage open for alternative community events while we are unable to host live music.”
The venue, which operates out of a machine shed on Honey Acres—a 77-acre horse farm owned by Hebeisen’s father—has hosted shows since 2023.
