MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Some Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) positions previously targeted for elimination could be restored ahead of a key school board vote Thursday, according to an email reportedly from Superintendent Dr. Thomas Taylor.
But other cuts remain under consideration as the district works to close a roughly $36 million budget gap.
The latest developments come just weeks after employees, parents and advocates packed a Board of Education meeting to warn that proposed staffing reductions could affect student mental health services, support for immigrant families and college and career planning programs.
