Construction near Whitman’s tennis courts and softball field continues to face setbacks after a two-year delay, negatively affecting spring sports.
Montgomery County is actively constructing an access road for emergency vehicles that complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act and is accessible from Braeburn Parkway. The new pathway will not only allow first responders to arrive faster, but will also provide direct access to the courts and fields. After the road construction finishes, Whitman will also resurface its tennis courts.
The project was initially scheduled for summer 2024, but due to continuous permit delays, it was pushed back by one year. Larger equipment would damage the new asphalt, so the tennis court renovation was also postponed.
