Review Underway After Video Shows Sheriff’s Office Canine Refuse to Let Go of Suspect

A video making rounds on Tik Tok appears to show a Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office police dog with the refusing to let go of a man who it was biting at the Walmart in Dulles Crossing Plaza on June 10. LCSO is reviewing the incident per its use-of-force policy, a spokesperson said.

LCSO responded to the location for a report of a larceny in progress around 6:50 p.m. The first unit on the scene appears to have been one of several canine deputies employed by LCSO. At 7:01 p.m., the deputy said over the radio that his dog was biting someone and asked for backup to expedite their response.

A paramedic ambulance from Loudoun County Fire Rescue was dispatched to the scene less than two minutes later, according to radio traffic reviewed by Loudoun Now. Around two minutes and 20 seconds after the canine deputy made his first radio transmission, a patrol deputy radios that the suspect is in handcuffs and asks for EMS.
