Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service firefighters responded to a small house fire in the 10700 block of Cavalier Drive in the Kemp Mill area Saturday morning, where a recently installed smoke alarm alerted residents and helped them escape safely.
According to MCFRS, the fire was reported at approximately 8:15 a.m. and was caused by combustible materials placed inside a heated oven. Fire officials said the occupants had been using the oven to dry dishes when the fire started.
MCFRS noted that firefighters had installed the home’s smoke alarm just two weeks earlier. The alarm alerted the occupants, who evacuated the house and called 911. No injuries were reported…
